This 20,000 s.f. building serves three primary District functions: fire station, fire district administration offices and multi-agency emergency operations center.  The station incorporates fire apparatus bays with a pull-through site layout.  Located on Fairway Drive, the new station will form a civic hub in Tahoe City along with the TCPUD facilities to the west.  Ward-Young designed the facility to maximize views and sun exposure to the south, minimize snow impacts on pedestrian and vehicular areas, and utilize mountain appropriate materials and colors that stand up to the elements with minimal maintenance.  LEED certification is pending.
