USDA FOREST SERVICE – TRUCKEE RANGER DISTRICT OFFICE

Ward-Young designed the 12,000 s.f. administrative office building to accomodate the diverse needs of 60 employees of the Truckee Ranger District.  The specific site planning and building design respond to the Forest Service’s sustainable design objectives.  The design accommodates future expansion of the building for an increase of staff and the addition of a visitor center.  Ward-Young led the design team through the process of creating an integrated sustainable design.  Architectural form, materials, and mechanical and electrical systems work in concert to create an enriching work environment, in a building that exceeds California’s energy efficiency standards by 60%.  The project has received LEED Gold Certification.
